Rhinoplasty is surgery to reshape the nose and is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Augmentation Rhinoplasty is the procedure that we make the nose higher and look better with the super soft medical grade silicone implant that is carved until fit the the nose. We can control and design the shape of the new nose by carving the silicone as we need. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with or without mild sedative drug to decrease nervous and anxiety in some patient. Normally the procedure is not pain at all, the patient feels a little bit pain only during injection of anesthetic agent before the procedure only. The procedure takes time about 2- 2.5 hours, can be performed in the clinic, not need admission.
Surgical procedure
To hind the scar, incisions are done in inner side of alar rims. Subperiosteal pocket is created for the silicone implant. The incision are closed with fine absorbable suture. In the hand of skillful plastic surgeon with a lot of experiences, this procedure is safe and reversible, reversible is mean that one day in the future, if any patient needs to be removed the silicone implant from any reasons he or she will get his or her old nose back again with everything still be the same as before operation except the unseen scar inside the nostril of the nose.
Alarplasty
Alarplasty is the procedure to narrow the span of nostrils and alar base. The surgical technique depends on the shape of the nostrils and nasal proprotion to the whole face. Alarplasty is a common procedure that is performed in the same time as augmentation rhinoplasty if the alar of the patient is so much wide, this can help the result is more perfect, the doctor will consider that which case needs to be performed or not.
Before care
Inform us about any allergies, any serious medical condition(s), and all medications you are taking (both prescription and non–prescription). Avoid aspirin and aspirin–containing medicines for one week prior to surgery.
After care
The first nignt after operation, normally the patient will feel some pain at the nose area, a little pain, can be decrease by the combination of good medication that the patient will get after operation. The patient should sleep with the head higher than the chest to reduce swelling at the nose and make the recovery period as short as possible.
The second and the third day after operation, the patient will have no pain but has a lot swelling in the nose and eyelid area more than the first day. Most of the patients (more than 90%) have only swelling but no bruising, only some cases that may have a little bruising in the dorsum of the nose.
80% of swelling will decrease after one week, 20% of swelling need longer time to disappear, normally needs time about 3 week to look normal.
The patient can wash his or her face, can shower and shampoo his or her hair as normal since the second day after operation, can do any activeties as nearly normal except only the actities or the position that increase pressure to the face which makes swelling prolong than it should be.
7 days after operation, the patient comes back to the clinic to check the nose and stitches off.
Possible risks and complications
When nose surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including bleeding, infection, deviation of nasal implant, asymmetry of nostrils, prolong redness of nose or later on extrusion of nasal implant.
